Pastor Marius Asaftei received his Masters of Divinity from the Andrews University Theological Seminary, after completing an undergraduate degree in theology at Southern Adventist University. He now serves as Pastor for Outreach & Evangelism at the Marietta Adventist Church in metro Atlanta, Georgia.
Born in Communist Romania, Pastor Asaftei moved to the United States in 1995 and pursued his childhood dream of becoming a minister and missionary. Fluent in three languages, he has ministered in Guyana, Dominican Republic, Romania, and the United States. His service experience includes literature evangelism, campus ministries, jungle missions, chaplaincy, and public speaking.
He loves international traveling and enjoys outdoor activities, especially golf, sailing, racquetball and tennis. He is passionate about authentic church growth and creating a sense of biblical community through holistic small groups. As a mentor and coach, he works to disciple others into spiritual leadership, to share faith, understand spiritual disciplines and become confident followers of Jesus Christ. He also leads regular youth mission trips, providing experiential moments for young people to deepen their connection with God.
Pastor Asaftei is happily married to Sarah, a fellow speaker who works for the Centre for Secular & Postmodern Studies - CSPS. Together, they work to present Jesus in an accurate and appealing way to both youth and adults through a variety of presentations and subjects. They share a deep passion for team ministry, mission work and hospitality.
“In a world of instability and isolation, Christian disciples must learn how to encourage, support, and exhort each other. The best illustration of this is found among the nurturing stories of the New Testament and the early apostolic church.
We have to choose to learn spiritual disciplines, and choose to interact on a deep level with fellow disciples. Western society does not encourage these things to happen naturally. In learning how to build small groups, and how to implement spiritual discipline, we can draw closer to Jesus.”
